Mike Stack announced as a finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2014

Michael Stack one of eight nominees in the International category in the leading business awards programme for entrepreneurs

Tricel Directors

Tricel managing director Michael Stack has seen his efforts in growing the Killarney based company recognised with news of his nomination in the international category for the 2014 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Programme. Following on from the rebrand of Killarney Plastics and other companies within the group to Tricel in March the news of Michael’s nomination continues the run of success for Tricel, as the group goes from strength to strength both in Ireland and further afield.

Mr Stack’s nomination in the international category sees him lining up amongst leading Irish entrepreneurs, with the selected finalists emerging from a host of nominees spread across Ireland and other locations including California, London, Frankfurt and New York. The EY Entrepreneur Programme celebrates business leaders who have made a notable impact in their field, and with Tricel now employing over 250 people across businesses in Ireland, the UK and France, Michael’s nomination is a fitting recognition of the sustained growth and success Tricel has experienced over the past number of years.

As well as the international category in which Michael Stack is nominated there are two other groupings, Emerging and Industry, vying to claim the top prize in this year’s programme. All 24 finalists will travel to the United States and Canada at the end of May for a week-long CEO retreat taking place in Seattle and Vancouver, with the winners of each category as well as the overall winner being announced at a Gala Awards evening taking place in Dublin in October. The overall winner will then go on to represent Ireland at the World Entrepreneur of the Year in Monte Carlo in June 2015.

Speaking of his delight upon receiving the nomination Michael Stack said: “This nomination comes at a great time for Tricel as we have recently entered a new era for the company, and to be recognised in such a way gives everyone working within the group a massive boost. I look forward to meeting my fellow nominees, working with them over the next few months and learning from them. I am fortunate in the fact that I am part of a family company which was built with solid foundations by my parents Anne & Con Stack, enabling us to expand our horizons and view future progress with a clear sense of direction. As the excitement builds over the coming months leading up to Octobers awards I am certain that every member of the Tricel group will continue to work hard and achieve success, because without their efforts I wouldn’t be in the position I am today.“

Michael Stack, Managing Director spoke on his thoughts of the rebranding process

“I am very excited to be leading the group as it enters a new era under the Tricel banner. When we began this rebranding process, a clear vision was laid out as to what we wanted it to achieve and I am delighted with the way it has turned out. Since 2002, the Tricel name has been one of the leading lights in the group structure and I feel that now is the most opportune time to place it front and centre of what we are offering.”

KMG rebrands as Tricel

New Tricel logo

Killarney Manufacturing Group (KMG) headed by its founding company Killarney Plastics, has undergone a rebrand. On the 28th of March 2014, companies in the existing structure were renamed to Tricel.

With companies spread across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe under a number of different names, moving into a new era under the Tricel banner will promote our unique vision. Tricel is already an established name in a number of countries and the rebrand is a positive step in signifying our future success.

Building on a sustained record of growth and achievement since our foundation in 1973, we have become the market leader in the supply of Water tanks, Environmental, Construction and Materials. With over 250 employees, we export a wide range of products to over 50 countries worldwide.

The original Tricel brand was established in 2002 as we expanded into new markets and now 2014 is the perfect time to implement the rebrand so all aspects of the company can come together under a progressive new identity.

Tricel Sasu was awarded best Irish company in France 2012 at the annual Ireland France Business Awards in Dublin. The prestigious award was presented by Ireland France Chamber of Commerce (IFCC) and NetworkIrlande. The awards are designed to recognise outstanding business performance and bilateral trade between Ireland and France.

Robbie Larkin, Group Finance Manager collected the award on behalf of the KMG Group. “We are delighted to be named Best Irish Company in France for our French based subsidiary company, Tricel SASU. It is a great honour to receive this award from the Ireland France Chamber of Commerce and Network Irlande. It is testament to our hard work and commitment to the French market since 2009.”

Tricel SASU is a French subsidiary of KMG, a privately owned group of companies headquartered in Killarney. Killarney Plastics, also part of KMG, started trading wastewater treatment systems (WWTS) to the French market in 2009. In early 2012, sales to the French market switched from Killarney Plastics to Tricel SASU. The growth in sales achieved by Tricel SASU, its strong sales projections and its commitment to creating employment in France and Ireland were the main factors behind the jury’s decision.
